The Ohio native will have one season of eligibility remaining with UW.
Ballard is a former top-100 recruit from the 2021 recruiting class, ranked as the No. 99 player and the No. 15 wide receiver in the country at the time of his commitment to the Buckeyes.
Ballard decided to move on after four years in Columbus, but he never carved out a role for himself, producing 177 yards and one touchdown on 11 receptions. A change of scenery should do some good for the former top-100 recruit, and he'll have the opportunity to be a big part of the Badgers offense in 2025.
After losing Will Pauling and CJ Williams to the transfer portal, adding some extra help at receiver quickly became a top priority. Luke Fickell and company wasted little time and were able to lock down Ballard's commitment in short order after the departures.
With Ballard's commitment, Wisconsin has now added ten players via the transfer portal, with seven of the commitments coming in the last three days. UW's transfer class currently ranks as the No. 9 class in the country and No. 2 in the Big Ten per the composite rankings.
