The Wisconsin football staff have been waiting on a major commitment announcement which just might be around the corner.
Amari Latimer, a three-star 2026 running back from Sandy Creek, Georgia, has been closely tied to the Wisconsin program since taking an official visit. Latimer officially visited Madison the weekend of May 30th and then later unofficially visited the school while in the area, which boded well for a potential commitment. However, Latimer did not announce any such commitment and has stuck to a tentative date to end the month of June which is right around the corner.
While Latimer has not been on campus in some time since the last two visits, the Wisconsin football staff has done virtually all that can be done. The decision is in the hands of the running back and the staff cannot do anything but patiently wait for the announcement like the Badgers fans have.
For Wisconsin, Latimer is the perfect fit for the program and the running back position in particular which makes the potential of landing a commitment from the recruit major for the staff. Wisconsin does not want to let a great talent like Latimer walk away and the recruit has been the primary focus of the recruiting staff as of late.
On the field, Latimer is a dynamic running back that has largely gone under-the-radar throughout his recruitment. Latimer is a three-star recruit but has been considered to be a four-star snub and an offer list longer than some top recruits speaks for itself. Georgia, Texas, Michigan, and Ohio State have all been involved with Latimer alongside Wisconsin.
Currently, the Wisconsin football staff has young talent at running back in Dilin Jones, Darrion Dupree, and Gideon Ituka. However, none of the current talent the Wisconsin football staff has brought in offer quite the same package as Latimer.
The running back stays low to the ground and bowls over opposing defenders once a head of steam has been gained. Latimer also does not shy away from contact nor does the recruit back away from receiving situations either.
