Commitment to Wisconsin Football

Smith was a late addition to Wisconsin's 2025 class, announcing his commitment on November 24th. The Florida native was initially committed to Michigan but ended up de-committing at the end of October. UW wasted little time getting into the mix after his de-commitment, extending an offer the day after and getting Smith on campus for an official visit during the clash with No. 1 Oregon. Florida State was also a major contender, but UW was able to outlast the Seminoles for Smith's commitment.

The Bishop Verot standout picked up 22 offers throughout his recruitment and chose UW over offers from Florida State, Miami, Penn State, Ole Miss, Florida, Texas A&M, and Minnesota, among several others.

Smith is a true dual-threat quarterback with an explosive arm and great rushing ability. He was named the Florida Gatorade Player of the Year in his junior season and followed it up with a strong senior campaign, throwing for completing 107 of his 178 pass attempts for 1,315 yards and 12 touchdowns while also recording 598 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground in nine games, per MaxPreps. Wisconsin has lost Cole LaCrue to the transfer portal, and it remains to be seen if there will be any other fallout with Phil Longo out of the picture. With the status of the QB room up in the air for 2025, this is a big win for the Badgers in the cycle.
