'You will not be able to slow them down' - Former Georgia QB Aaron Murray predicts who will win the Tennessee vs Alabama matchup
Saul Young/News Sentinel / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Tennessee Vols will head to Tuscaloosa this weekend in search of their first road win against the Alabama Crimson Tide since 2003.

Tennessee has won two of its last three games against Alabama, but the Vols haven't won in Bryant-Denny Stadium since before the iPhone and Facebook were a thing.

The winner of this weekend's matchup in Tuscaloosa will be in the driver's seat for a spot in the 12-team College Football Playoff.

Former Georgia QB Aaron Murray predicts who will win Tennessee vs Alabama game

Former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Aaron Murray broke down the Tennessee vs Alabama game this week on the Mac and Murray Show.

Murray has Alabama winning by a touchdown. He thinks the Vols will have trouble stopping Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson.

"You're playing a quarterback (Simpson) that is playing as good, if not better, than anyone else in the country," said Murray. "He's seeing the field extremely well. He's maneuvering around the pocket well. He can run when he needs to. He's accurate with the football. He's got elite playmakers

"Unless you have four dudes up front that can create pressure and be able to play coverage on the back end, you will not be able to stop this offense. You won't. And you can't. I don't care what league you're in -- the NFL, college, high school -- when you face a passing attack with a quarterback that's playing at this level and receivers that are this talented, you will not be able to slow them down unless you can win with four up front. Tennessee does not have that. So I don't care if (Vols defensive coordinator) Tim Banks wants to bring six. I don't care if he wants to drop eight. I don't care if he wants to bring engage eight and just have three guys back there. You will not be able to slow down this offensive passing attack. So the only way Tennessee has a chance in this game is to score a bunch of points."

"I think Tennessee covers," added Murray. "I think Alabama wins. I think Alabama wins by a touchdown."

We'll see how accurate Murray's analysis/prediction is on Saturday night when these two teams face off.

I do think Murray is right, though, that Tennessee will have to find a way to win up front with four defenders to have a chance to slow down Simpson and Alabama's offense.

Of course, the same can be said for Alabama when it comes to stopping Tennessee's offense.

Whichever team executes at the highest level while limiting mistakes is the team that will win this game on Saturday night in Tuscaloosa.
