The Tennessee Volunteers got some very big news on Sunday morning. LSU offensive tackle Zalance Heard was trending toward Tennessee for a while, but he showed up in the student directory over the weekend ahead of the start of classes on Tuesday. He took to social media on Sunday morning to make things official.
Heard was the No. 15 prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, according to 247Sports' Composite Rankings. He appeared in twelve games during this past season and will have three years of eligibility left. Many expect Heard to slot in as the starting left tackle for the Vols next season.
The offseason is underway for Tennessee football. The Vols have concluded the season and are now focusing on roster construction for the 2023 season. Volunteer Country has fans covered with all the latest portal entries and NFL Draft declarations. The portal window is from December 4 until January 2. If players don't transfer within that window, they must wait until May following spring practice to enter the transfer portal.
