SALT LAKE CITY-Utah's veteran cornerback Zemaiah Vaughn was on the wrong side of a defensive holding penalty that ultimately led to BYU's game-winning field goal. While it was the topic of heated debates days after the fact, Vaughn is ready to move on and look forward.
After Tuesday's practice, Vaughn was available for the media where he shed some light on his thought process following the game and how he plans to recover from such a call.
"They called what they called. I can't change it, it is what it is, but of course, I was mad about it," Vaughn said.
"Now I'm just looking onto the next right now. I just feel like I have to do better, whatever I can to try not to grab I guess, but it is what it is," he continued.
Next up for the Senior defensive back is a matchup against the Heisman Trophy favorite Travis Hunter, and Vaughn plans to prepare for this matchup how he "approaches every week" and goes on to say that it's "just another game" for him.
With three games left in his Utah career, this season has not gone to plan for Vaughn or the entire team, but with 26 total tackles, two passes defended, and a sack to his name, this season is on track to be the veteran's second-best season of his collegiate career, and he'll look to finish out strong despite the unlikely prospect of postseason football.
