Softball team had amazing reaction after drawing vaunted Oklahoma in NCAA Tournament

Boston University earned an automatic bid into the 2025 NCAA Softball Tournament by winning the Patriot League on Sunday, but the Terriers will now face their steepest challenge in program history. And they seem to know it.

After defeating Army West Point 3-2 to win the Patriot League title, the Boston University softball team anxiously watched the NCAA Softball Tournament selection show on ESPN2. They learned that they will face defending national champion Oklahoma in the opening round on Friday night.

When they realized their team had been matched up with Oklahoma, several BU players reacted with the classic “surrender cobra” pose.

As a low seed, BU knew they would be a massive underdog in the tournament. They were obviously hoping to avoid the best team in the country, however.

Oklahoma has won the last four NCAA softball national titles. The Sooners have captured six national championships since 2016. It would be an understatement to say Boston University stands no chance, but there is a reason the games are played.

Given the gap between the two programs, there is no shame in the way BU players reacted. We can’t say the same for the way some top college teams have reacted to learning about their upcoming opponents.
