Warwickshire has signed Usman Tariq for the upcoming season of the Vitality T20 Blast. Notably, tariq was the second only Pakistani to be picked in the The Hundred Auction in 2026, after Abrar Ahmed. However, the Hundreds will be starting on late July, which means he will play T20 Blast earlier

Notably, this will be his first stint in county cricket with Warwickshire after his previous league experience, including the Pakistan Super League, Caribbean Premier League, ILT20, and Abu Dhabi T10.

Tariq has confirmed that he will be available for the entire season for Warwickshire. He will be with the Birmingham Phoenix, his Hundred's team, based at Edgbaston after he completes his Blast stinct.

High-impact player for Warwickshire

James Thomas, Warwickshire's performance director sounded excited for signing Tariq to their team. Calling him a "high imapct player, Thomas added,

"His skill set and tactical awareness make him a genuine threat in modern white-ball cricket, but it's his hunger to compete and continually improve that really stands out. "What makes this signing particularly exciting is the alignment between Warwickshire and Birmingham Phoenix. Bringing Usman into the Bears for the Vitality Blast, before transitioning into the Hundred with the Phoenix, reflects the strength of our integrated model across club and franchise."
    Thomas further said,

"It allows us to create continuity for the player, maximise performance impact across both competitions, and build stronger connections with our supporters in Birmingham and Warwickshire. Ultimately, this is about strengthening the team, the franchise, and our presence in the area and we believe Usman can play a key role in that this summer."

Usman Tariq rise with numbers

Tariq’s ascent has been swift, with under two years separating his senior T20 debut and his international call-up for Pakistan. In just nine T20Is, he has claimed 18 wickets at an impressive average of 11.16, maintaining an economy rate of 6.66. A versatile spinner, he combines offbreaks, googlies, and subtle legbreak variations.

What sets him apart is his distinctive action, marked by a brief pause before delivery, which often deceives batters and adds an extra layer of unpredictability to his bowling.

After joining Warwickshire, Tariq believes that he can bring fun to the Bears. Looking forward to his time with the side, he said,

"I am very excited to bring more fun and energy to the Bears. I can't wait to get involved with the squad and it's a great feeling to be part of this team. I hope to see as many people as possible at Edgbaston this summer."
