Australia Women have announced their 15-player squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 on Wednesday, becoming one of the latest teams to reveal their lineup. The major tournament will take place in England starting from June 12. Sophie Molineux will serve as the captain for the Women in Yellow while the team selectors made an unexpected decision to exclude pacer Darcie Brown from the T20I squad.
Brown who has played in the previous two editions of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup did not find a place in the squad this time. The team selectors chose Lucy Hamilton to take her position instead. The left-arm pacer led Australia’s Under 19 team during the T20 World Cup last year and subsequently made her debut in all three senior cricket formats.
The Australian squad includes experienced players who have played international cricket with Ellyse Perry, Beth Mooney, Ash Gardner, Tahlia McGrath and Megan Schutt. Australia will attempt to win their seventh T20 World Cup title because they won their previous championships in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2018, 2020 and 2023. The team reached the 2024 semi-finals but lost which prevented them from appearing in their second consecutive championship match.
Australia competes in Group 1 together with South Africa, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the Netherlands. Their first match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 will take place on June 13 against South Africa at Old Trafford in Manchester.
