Babar Azam faced legal trouble after a woman accused him of sexual harassment. The case involved a woman from Pakistan named Hamiza Mukhtar who made accusations against him.

The situation came at a time when Babar is already going through a break from international cricket. The 31-year-old batter was not included in Pakistan’s ODI squad for the upcoming series against Bangladesh.

Babar showed inconsistent performance throughout the T20 World Cup. The team management also moved him to the middle order, even though he has mostly played as an opener in T20 internationals. The change in role did not help his form in the tournament.

The Old Case Comes Back Into Focus

The issue dates back to 2018 when Hamiza Mukhtar first made allegations against Babar Azam. She claimed that the cricketer had sexually harassed her. However, she later withdrew the complaint.

The matter returned in 2020 when Mukhtar sent Babar a legal notice. She demanded compensation of Rs 150 million and again raised the harassment claims.

Mukhtar approached the Justice of Peace and asked for legal action. The Justice of Peace ordered that a formal FIR should be registered against the Pakistan cricketer because Babar failed to respond to the compensation demand.

The Lahore High Court Gives Relief

Babar Azam sought relief from the Lahore High Court after the FIR order was issued against him.

His lawyer Haris Azmat told the court that Babar had no involvement in the allegations. The complainant tried to use the cricketer’s name and fame for personal gain according to his argument. The order to register an FIR did not follow proper legal rules according to the lawyer.

The Lahore High Court dismissed the order to register the FIR after hearing the arguments. The Pakistan batter experienced major relief from the decision in his case.

PSL 2026 Becomes The Main Focus

Babar Azam has returned to cricket after the court process concluded. He is currently preparing for the upcoming Pakistan Super League 2026. Babar will lead Peshawar Zalmi in the tournament, which is set to start on March 26.

Peshawar Zalmi will begin their campaign against the new team Rawalpindi Pindiz on March 28 at the Arbab Niaz Stadium. Babar has been a vital part of Zalmi throughout the years. The team will hope he delivers strong performances again this season.

A successful PSL season for Babar could lead to his selection in Pakistan's white-ball teams as the country starts to prepare for the 2027 ODI World Cup.
