Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah was seen bowling left-arm spin in the nets ahead of the Asia Cup 2025 Super Four dead-rubber clash against Sri Lanka. Bumrah could be rested for this game as India prepares for the crucial final against Pakistan on Sunday, September 28, at the Dubai International Stadium.

His workload has been carefully managed throughout the tournament in the UAE. He was rested during the match against Oman near the end of the group stage after India had already secured qualification with back-to-back wins. During the practice session before the Sri Lanka match, Bumrah experimented with left-arm spin, adopting an action similar to Ravindra Jadeja’s.

Batting coach Sitanshu Kotak observed the session before Bumrah returned to bowling pace with a shortened run-up. Fans can check out some of the star pacer’s spin bowling via Times of India.

Bumrah was also spotted talking with head coach Gautam Gambhir before practicing ground fielding and throwing under the guidance of fielding coach T Dilip.

Bumrah Tried Spin In 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Series

Players often use net sessions to hone secondary skills and experiment with different techniques, pushing themselves to improve areas outside their main strengths. Bowlers, in particular, try new actions or challenge themselves in ways that differ from their usual strengths, often seeking to add versatility to their game.

In a manner similar to his recent brief stint with spin during the Asia Cup 2025 nets, Jasprit Bumrah had bowled some right-arm leg-breaks during an indoor practice session ahead of the third Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar series in Brisbane, aiming to sharpen his skills and maintain overall fitness.

The right-arm pacer has had a mixed Asia Cup 2025 so far, taking five wickets in four matches at an average of 22 and maintaining an economy rate of 7.33. He struggled in the Super Four clash against Pakistan with figures of 0-45 but bounced back with an excellent 2-18 in India’s 41-run victory over Bangladesh.
