Australia denied South Africa a clean sweep of the three-match ODI series, coming up trumps in the third and final fixture, which was a rain-hit game in Potchefstroom. The one-dayer that had a delayed start due to wet outfield following afternoon showers couldn’t go on beyond 28 overs of South Africa’s pursuit, handing the visitors a 45-run win via DLS method. It took an all-round batting effort from Australia that pushed them to a formidable total of 322/9.

In response, South Africa were a batter short as Tony de Zorzi perished midway through the game with a hamstring injury. Ryan Rickelton showed up in the chase as his unbeaten 71 dragged the team along. But when the rain break came and brought an end to the proceedings, the home side were significantly short of the par-score.

Brief Scores: Australia 322/9 in 50 overs (Alex Carey 74, Mitchell Marsh 56, Oliver Peake 48; Corbin Bosch 4-60) beat South Africa 145/4 in 28 overs (Ryan Rickelton 71*; Xavier Bartlett 2-25, Adam Zampa 2-34) by 45 runs (DLS Method)
