Punjab Kings chased brilliantly to win by five wickets against Chennai Super Kings in Match 7 of IPL 2026 at Chepauk. Facing a stiff target of 210 runs to chase, PBKS successfully scored 210/5 in 18.4 overs with contributions from Priyansh Arya, Shreyas Iyer, etc. CSK had earlier posted a formidable 209/5 with Ayush Mhatre and Shivam Dube being instrumental in their batting effort. What turned out to be a high-scoring affair the Kings ultimately clinched an important win.
Chennai Super Kings piled up an huge 209/5 in their allocated 20 overs. Despite losing their opener Sanju Samson early in the innings, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ayush Mhatre stitched a solid partnership to rebuild the innings. Mhatre was at his imperious best, scoring 73 off just 43 balls laced with 6 boundaries and 5 maximums.
The finishing touch was provided by Shivam Dube, who remained unbeaten on 45 off 27 deliveries. The quick fire knock of 32 off merely 12 balls by Sarfaraz Khan helped the Super Kings go past the 200-run mark. The Super Kings, scoring at over 10 runs per over failed to achieve their target although the Punjab Kings pacers did well to stem the run flow with Vijaykumar Vyshak scalping 2 wickets. Chahal maintained an economy of below 8 while Chahar chipped in with a wicket.
Punjab Kings achieved a flying start to their chase courtesy of young Priyansh Arya who took the opposition attack to cleaners. The young batter smashed 39 off just 11 deliveries. Prabhsimran Singh and Cooper Connolly contributed handy knocks of 26 and 36 respectively to continue the innings.
Captain Shreyas Iyer led from the front with a classy 50 off 29 deliveries that ensured that the run chase never fell behind the required rate. Despite a flurry of wickets in the middle of the innings, the Punjab Kings players kept their nerves in control and eventually chased down the target with Shashank Singh and Marcus Stoinis remaining at the crease.
