Prithvi Shaw returns to IPL 2026, after missing the previous season for 75 lakhs by Delhi Capitals. The 26-year old has not been a part of the playing XI as of now, as KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka have been chosen as openers. Neither of the two opening batters have performed extremely well, but they have done enough to be in the side. Shaw is also being kept out by the other contenders for a position in the playing XI - Abishek Porel and Sahil Parekh.
Before the IPL started, Shaw got engaged to actress and social media influencer, Aakriti Agarwal on March 8th, in an intimate ceremony. After which he joined the Delhi Capitals camp and was training relentlessly waiting for his chance to come.
However, on the other hand, a video started doing the rounds of social media showing Shaw in Bangkok along with his partner. This went viral in an instant and various users were of the opinion that Shaw has left the Delhi Capitals camp during the ongoing IPL for a holiday. This received a lot of flak from the fans online as various of them commented about his commitment.

A look at the video reveals it to be old. Shaw had posted photographs of a trip to Bangkok on his social media handle on March 3, prior to IPL teams getting together for pre-season camp. In the pictures the player is wearing the same attire as in the viral video, which makes it evident that the video is old.
The player is currently a part of Delhi Capitals who is playing against Chennai Super Kings at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
The right-handed batter is currently aspiring to break into the Indian side. He has expressed that he is giving twice the efforts than before and is diligently working in matches and practice games to reclaim his place in the Indian squad.
Shaw's last appearance for India came in 2021, and after a long lay-off he wants to return to the national fold with consistency and dedication.
