
Despite some concerning injuries, the Atlanta Braves have gotten off to a strong start to the season.
Notably, more help might be on the way pretty soon for Walt Weiss' team, as star RHP Spencer Strider continues to take big steps toward making his season debut.
Strider, who's currently on the 15-day injured list (IL) with an oblique injury, will make his first rehab assignment on Thursday. He'll take the mound for 40-50 pitches with High-A Rome Emperors.
The 27-year-old All-Star has dealt with multiple injuries throughout the course of his career, so they're likely going to err on the side of caution with him.

He looked like a superstar in the making in 2023 before an injury-riddled 2024 campaign. Then, he struggled in 23 appearances last season, logging a 7-14 record with a 4.45 ERA and 1.396 WHIP.
He then suffered an oblique injury before the start of the season, and while the Braves haven't given a clear timeline for his potential season debut, the fact that he's already received a rehab assignment is encouraging. Despite the injuries, the Braves are 12-7 for the season and sitting atop the NL East.
