A tweet that recently went viral online is claiming that Sarfaraz Khan is at the risk of being banned from the 2026 IPL edition due to his style of celebration during the match between CSK and RCB. It has no base and it is absolutely false.

The situation occurred during a very high-scoring encounter on April 5 between CSK and RCB at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Sarfaraz played a great knock against RCB in the match and reached his half-century in only 25 deliveries with 8 fours and 2 sixes to his name at a massive strike rate of 200.

At the 12.5 over mark, after completing his half-century, he performed his signature celebration. He raised his hands and indicated to his teammates on the ground and in the dugout, which is very common in cricket to get hyped and cheer the team on.

Viral Claim vs Reality

There were various fake claims spread on social media that his celebration had some religious or political message associated with Iran and that is why he could be penalized and then banned from the next season's edition of IPL. This, however, has not turned out to be true as there is no information available about the incident other than that stated above.

There is absolutely no proof to back such an accusation. Sarfaraz's gesture was a simple cricket gesture. Even the players present on the ground reacted with sheer joy and encouragement. Virat Kohli was seen applauding his half-century with a thumbs up.

No complaints were registered and no statement or action was taken by the IPL authorities nor the BCCI on the event that occurred.

According to the rules of cricket, no player is allowed to give a political or a religious message while on field but Sarfaraz's celebration has nothing to do with it.

There is no violation of the rules by any means and the claims about the ban are totally baseless. So ultimately, it is a false claim and Sarfaraz Khan deserves applause for his extraordinary performance in this game and not just scrutiny for an absurd ban.

Sarfaraz's Effort Went in Vain

In the game played, RCB had set an enormous 250/3 which really had put the pressure on CSK and they were reduced to 30/3, but Sarfaraz had given an incredible fight-back and was in a hyper aggressive mood throughout. The young batter batting at No 4 for the first time made history becoming the first IPL player ever to score a fifty at number 4 or lower while batting at number 4 or lower. He added a massive 57 runs partnership with Jamie Overton and while CSK was bowled out for 207 in 16.4 overs to lose by 43 runs.

The 26-year old is one of the few positives from CSK this season having been bought for a sum of 75 lakhs and has scored 99 runs in 3 games averaging 33 at a whopping strike rate of 202.04. Sarfaraz has also been in the news for his hard work on his fitness this season having shed close to 17 kgs which was visible in the way he has been performing.
