The 24-year-old Indian pace bowler Harshit Rana has been ruled out of the upcoming ODI series versus England. Rana played two T20Is vs Ireland and three games in England. The pacer took seven wickets in those matches and also scored 44 runs with the bat. Harshit was rested for the fourth T20 in Bristol along with Varun Chakravarthy, with the duo also missing the final game on Saturday.

Noted journalist Vikrant Gupta took to his X handle and wrote: “Harshit Rana out of the ODI series as he’s suffering from a Grade 1 bicep femoris muscle tear - it’s a hamstring muscle tear.” The bowler had also missed the T20 World Cup due to injury, which saw Mohammed Siraj being drafted as the replacement. Kolkata Knight Riders star also missed the entire IPL 2026 season before making his comeback recently.

Vikrant Gupta also added, “Harshit had a knee surgery and got operated upon a few months back. COE cleared him to tour Ireland and England, but how can the hamstring tear happen within 10 days? If the knee doesn’t recover fully and cannot take the load, it compensates via the hamstrings or quads. What can we allude to?

Team India’s injury crisis rising

Hardik Pandya and Nitish Kumar Reddy were already ruled out of the UK tour due to injuries. Pandya had first suffered back spasms, but just as he was getting fit, the 32-year-old suffered a quadriceps injury to miss the Afghan ODI series. Nitish also suffered an injury to his quads and was eventually replaced by Suryansh Shedge in the T20I side. Shivam Dube was most recently named as Reddy’s replacement in the ODI setup.

Varun was also a late addition to the Indian side ahead of the England series. 34-year-old managed to pick just one wicket in the two games he got to bowl so far. BCCI hasn’t named a replacement for Harshit Rana, but it is widely believed that Prince Yadav could be drafted into the side.

Jasprit Bumrah’s return will see him partner Arshdeep Singh with the new ball. Gurnoor Brar is also part of the team along with Prasidh Krishna. Both pacers had managed to impress in the previous ODI series that was played at home.
