KKR are facing early struggles at IPL 2026 following their first two losse. Their big buy Cameron Green, signed at auction for Rs 25.20 crore, hasn't produced results yet in their quest to change their fortunes.
Green is currently out with a lower back injury and is only batting, Cricket Australia stated that he's still "rebuilding his bowling loads", thus unbalancing the KKR lineup. Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar expressed his concerns and believes KKR will need to make changes to their batting lineup if the Australian isn't contributing with the ball.
Green's bat has also been quiet. With him having managed just 18 and 2 runs against his two outings for KKR while batting at No.3 and No.4 respectively, Gavaskar is of the opinion that if the Australian all-rounder is to take up a place in their playing XI, he needs to contribute with his bowling too.
Sunil Gavaskar said in Star Sports:
"KKR will need to think about their combination if Cameron Green is not going to bowl. If he isn't contributing with the ball, then they might have to consider bringing in another specialist batter," 'Gameplan'. "We know he has scored a hundred in the IPL and that he can bat well but form hasn't been that great. We know he has scored hundred in the red ball game in Australia a couple of months back, but then that is where the numbers are looked into by the team. No reliance should be on past performances and form of all players needs to be considered."
Gavaskar added:
"Middle-order too is a point of concern for the KKR. "Green at No4 is fine, but the bigger concern is No5 and No6 position which appears to be a bit of a worry."
Without any wickets with the ball and no runs with the bat, it is no surprise KKR are facing struggles and will be hoping to fix these problems for their match against Punjab Kings in Eden Gardens on Monday.
