Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar has shared a significant opinion about star pacer Jasprit Bumrah ahead of India’s Asia Cup 2025 group-stage clash against Oman. The Men in Blue are set to face Oman in their last group match on Friday, September 19, in Abu Dhabi.

Since India have already secured a spot in the Super Fours, Sunil Gavaskar suggested that Bumrah could be given a break for the Oman match. He further mentioned that the pacer should also be rested for the Super Four encounter against Pakistan to keep him fresh and fully fit for the final.

“I believe Jasprit Bumrah should be rested perhaps even against Pakistan, so he’s available for the bigger match on Sunday, the 28th. That’s what India should be looking at. Of course, there will still need to be one bench player included, but Bumrah should be left out for tomorrow’s game to give him rest,” he said in an interaction with Sony Sports Network (via The Indian Express)

India are set to take on Pakistan in their Super Four encounter on Sunday, September 21, in Dubai. The arch-rivals had earlier met in the group stage, where India convincingly defeated the Men in Green by seven wickets. Suryakumar Yadav and his side will also face Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in their remaining Super Four fixtures. The Asia Cup 2025 final is slated to be played on Sunday, September 28, in Dubai.
