Pakistan's all-rounder Imad Wasim has given a nod of respect to India's T20 World Cup-winning journey, even amidst the chatter about pitch conditions and perceived favoritism from the ICC and event organizers.  India clinched their second consecutive T20 world title by defeating New Zealand by a whopping 96 runs in the final held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, March 8.

Wasim pointed out that the World Cup featured pitches that were more balanced, and at times, the conditions even worked against India. Yet, the Men in Blue emerged victorious, and in a moment of genuine admiration, the 37-year-old acknowledged that their long-time rivals are currently a stronger team than Pakistan in the cricketing arena.

"We always hear people saying that umpires favour India or that they prepare spin-friendly pitches, but you have to agree that in this tournament, the pitches were very well balanced. Sometimes, the conditions were even against India, but they still managed to deliver a dominating performance," Imad said on a Pakistani TV show as quoted by NDTV.

With their win in the 2026 T20 World Cup, India made history as the first men's team to successfully defend the trophy. The squad, led by Suryakumar Yadav, also became the first host nation to claim the 20-over title and the first team to win it three times.

India Rule ICC White-Ball Cricket With Historic Hat-Trick of Titles

India's dominance in white-ball ICC events is unmatched. The Men in Blue have now secured three consecutive ICC titles, including the 2024 T20 World Cup, the 2025 Champions Trophy, and now the 2026 T20 World Cup.

On the flip side, Pakistan has been waiting for nine years to lift an ICC trophy. Their last victory was back in 2017 when they triumphed in the Champions Trophy in England and Wales, defeating India in the final at the Oval.

India's impressive streak in ICC white-ball tournaments continued with their 2026 T20 World Cup victory, earning accolades even from Imad Wasim of Pakistan. Despite the controversies surrounding the pitches, India showcased their dominance through consistent performances. With three consecutive ICC titles under their belt, they currently lead the cricketing landscape, while Pakistan is still on the hunt for another major tournament win since 2017.
