Over the last couple of seasons, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has seen quite a few players making the jump to the Indian Premier League (IPL). Typically, the PSL runs from January to March, wrapping up just in time for the IPL to kick off. But in recent years, scheduling issues with the IPL have raised some eyebrows at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), as PSL players have been lured away whenever injury replacements or other opportunities pop up in the IPL.
In February 2025, Pakistan hosted the Champions Trophy, which led to the PSL being pushed to March-April, creating a direct overlap with the IPL. This year, the PSL found itself in a similar situation, as the schedule was delayed due to the T20 World Cup taking place in February and March.
During IPL 2025, South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch, who was in the Diamond category for PSL 2025 and picked up by Peshawar Zalmi for about $85,000, decided to withdraw from the tournament to step in for Lizaad Williams at Mumbai Indians. Consequently, he received a one-year ban from the PSL.

In IPL 2026, Kolkata Knight Riders let go of Mustafizur Rahman, who had been bought for INR 9.20 crore at auction, while Blessing Muzarabani, who was initially signed by Islamabad United to replace Shamar Joseph in the PSL, opted to join KKR instead. Although it hasn't been officially confirmed, there's buzz that West Indies spinner Gudakesh Motie, who was set to play for Lahore Qalandars, has pulled out of the PSL to join Lucknow Super Giants.
Australian pacer Spencer Johnson, who was signed by Quetta Gladiators, is also rumored to be leaving the PSL, with whispers that he might be heading to Chennai Super Kings as a replacement for Nathan Ellis. Meanwhile, Sri Lankan all-rounder Dasun Shanaka, who was just waiting on some minor paperwork in the PSL, has joined Rajasthan Royals in place of Sam Curran for INR 2 crore.
