An in-form Gujarat Titans (GT) side will take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 56 of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Tuesday, May 12. Shubman Gill’s side have completely turned their season around, and after securing four successive wins, they find themselves as one of the favourites to qualify for the playoffs.
GT’s most recent triumph came against the Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur last week when they secured a 77-run victory. The 2022 champions seemed to have improved all aspects of their game, with both batting and bowling looking in great shape as they enter the business end of the tournament, with Rashid Khan also finding his Midas touch against RR with a four-wicket haul.
Against RR, the Titans once again proved that they have one of the best and most consistent opening pairs in the tournament’s recent history, as Gill and Sai Sudharsan put 118 runs on the board for the first wicket at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Jos Buttler, meanwhile, has had some underwhelming performances in recent games, but remains his side’s third-highest run-getter with 348.
Washington Sundar has now twice proved he is a worthy in the middle order for GT, with two unbeaten knocks in as many games. The left-handed batter has scored 246 runs at an average of 41, whilst striking at 152.79. Jason Holder’s arrival in the team has not yet benefited GT with the bat, but his bowling prowess has taken the Titans to new heights, as he has picked up 10 wickets from just five matches at an economy of 6.65.
Amongst all the batting strength in the squad, GT’s bowling has been equally impressive this season. Kagiso Rabada is currently the tournament’s third-highest wicket-taker with 18 scalps to his name, while Rashid Khan is closely behind with 15. They are aided brilliantly by the Indian pacer duo of Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj, who have 12 wickets each.
Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill (C), Jos Buttler (WK), Washington Sundar, Jason Holder, Rahul Tewatia, Nishant Sindhu, Rashid Khan, Arshad Khan, Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj.
