As we approach the 2026 PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club, it's the perfect time to power rank the top-10 contenders in the field. Let's break down the most likely winners of the second major of the year.
Fleetwood ranks 12th on the PGA Tour this season in strokes gained per round, but his cold putter has held him back from better finishes. The good news is he's gained strokes on the green in four straight starts. Fleetwood will need to keep that trend going if he wants to contend on these difficult greens.
This could be the spot for Rose to claim his second major championship. In three career starts at Aronimink, the Englishman has a win, a runner-up finish after losing in a playoff and a T15. Watch out for the 45-year-old this week.
DeChambeau is a tough player to rank. On one hand, he's already won two LIV Golf events this year and has four top-five finishes in his last five PGA Championship starts. On the other hand, he missed the cut at the Masters and might not be a great fit for Aronimink due to the number of wedges he'll need to hit.
After finishing T12 or better in five of six starts and being one of the best iron players in the world during that stretch, Schauffele fizzled out at the Truist Championship with a T60. Which version of the two-time major champion will show up this week?
Aberg hasn't lost strokes in more than one major category since the Farmers Insurance Open in February. The Swede has five top-10 finishes in his last six starts, so it would be a surprise if he wasn't in the mix at Aronimink?
After limping to a T38 finish in the Masters, Rahm won LIV Golf Mexico City and had his best approach week of the season at LIV Golf Virginia. The Spaniard is still a top-five player in the world, but it's hard to trust him with his inconsistency in majors recently.
What a year it's been for Fitzpatrick, who has three wins in his last five starts and ranks fifth on the PGA Tour in strokes gained per round. No one would be shocked if the veteran picked off major No. 2 this week.

Young has cemented himself as the third-best player in the world after winning the Players Championship and the Cadillac Championship and battling Rory McIlroy to the finish line at the Masters. The American's putter has become a weapon in 2026, making him a threat to win every tournament he plays.
There's no way we're ranking the back-to-back Masters champion worse than second despite his mediocre performance at the Truist Championship last week. McIlroy is solely focused on majors at this point in his career, and this course should fit his eye.
It feels like Scheffler is due to lift a trophy, doesn't it? The World No. 1 is coming off three straight runner-up finishes, and he gained strokes in all four major categories in those three starts. Scheffler has the power to bomb it over most of these fairway bunkers, the accuracy to stay out of the thick rough and the sharp short game to tame these challenging greens. If he brings his A-game, he'll surely leave Aronimink with the Wanamaker Trophy.
