The Men in Blue have been on a roll, clinching three ICC trophies in a row since 2024. The Indian men’s cricket team is riding high on success, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is eager to keep that momentum going. With about 18 months to go until the next big showdown, the ODI World Cup 2027, the BCCI selection committee is already gearing up and will be closely watching performances in the upcoming IPL 2026.
According to a report from PTI, the selection panel led by Ajit Agarkar has narrowed down a list of 20 players for the 50-over World Cup. This team of selectors, which includes SS Das, RP Singh, Ajay Ratra, Pragyan Ojha, and of course, chief selector Agarkar, has identified a group of players they’ll be monitoring closely.
They’ll be keeping a sharp eye on how these players perform with their IPL teams. Naturally, the spotlight will be on big names like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, both of whom have stepped back from Tests and T20Is.

“The BCCI is looking at each selector watching at least one game per week which covers five games per week from the venue. Else, obviously, they can track on TV,” an official said to PTI.
