In the 16th match of the Indian Premier League 2026 which is underway at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (Royal Challengers Bengaluru) were 167/8 in 17.1 overs when asked to bat by the Rajasthan Royals (Rajasthan Royals).
It was a quick start to the innings but was hampered by a couple of early wickets that put the Royal Challengers Bengaluru under some pressure. Philip Salt was dismissed for a duck, whereas Devdutt Padikkal played some quick runs before being dismissed.
Virat Kohli contributed to the score by smashing a quick 32 of 16 balls which was at a strike rate of 200. The captain Rajat Patidar held the fort for Royal Challengers Bengaluru by scoring 63 runs of 40 balls, in the process hitting 4 boundaries and 4 sixes.
Middle-order batters Krunal Pandya and Jitesh Sharma were unable to convert their start and continue to build a partnership. Tim David also chipped in with 13 runs whereas Romario Shepherd ended the innings well with a late 22 of 11 balls.
Venkatesh Iyer and Bhuvneshwar Kumar remained unbeaten at the end of 17.1 overs. Jofra Archer, Ravi Bishnoi, Brijesh Sharma, Sandeep Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja accounted for the wickets and bowled well.
Rajasthan Royals varied pace well and spin with both Jofra Archer and Ravi Bishnoi picking up a couple of wickets while Sandeep Sharma and Brijesh Sharma chipping in with timely dismissals, Ravindra Jadeja stifled runs through the middle period.
A wicket also gave Sandeep Sharma a massive individual feat as he reached the milestone of 150 IPL wickets and also a leading fast bowler in the IPL.
A successful spell for Sandeep Sharma as he joins the list of 150 plus IPL wickets of the top pacers in the competition. He became fourth Indian and sixth overall among the pacers to pick 150 wickets in the history of the league. His name is listed among those who dominated the IPL charts through the years.
