The contest for dominance in the IPL truly began to develop during the 2010 edition of the tournament. The MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings captured their first IPL trophy when they defeated Mumbai Indians by 22 runs in the final. That was the first time the two teams played off in a title deciding match and set the tone for the high-octane contests that were to follow.
