Jasprit Bumrah has been declared fit for the Afghanistan T20I series. The veteran has been cleared to play by the medical panel of the CoE and will join India for three matches, starting September 13 in Delhi. He has been out of action since the ODI series against England, with the pacer suffering a knee injury in the second fifty-over game in the bilateral assignment.
Bumrah missed the two-Test series in Sri Lanka, and there was uncertainty about his participation against Afghanistan after he was picked in the squad, but his availability was subject to fitness.
The decision-makers at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru organised the match simulation for the injured players, and the right-arm speedster bowled without any discomfort.
Washington Sundar and Nitish Kumar Reddy, the two all-rounders, have also attained full fitness ahead of the busy schedule of the national team. Sundar sustained an injury during the England tour, while Reddy has been out of action since the home series against Afghanistan.
According to Abhishek Tripathi, Bumrah, Reddy and Sundar will compete against the sub-continent rivals, but Harshit Rana has been ruled out as he hasn't recovered from his fitness concerns. The Board of Control for Cricket in India hasn't announced a replacement for Rana, and there is a possibility of Prince Yadav joining the squad.
Afghanistan will host India for three matches at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
