Jasprit Bumrah reached a major milestone by dismissing Dewald Brevis in the first T20I between India and South Africa in Cuttack on Tuesday, December 9. By taking Brevis’ wicket, Bumrah completed 100 T20I wickets, becoming only the fifth bowler to achieve 100 wickets across all three formats of international cricket.

He is now the second Indian, after Arshdeep Singh (107), to reach the triple-figure mark in T20Is. Brevis, batting at 22, fell in the 11th over of South Africa’s chase when Bumrah bowled a length delivery on off stump. Brevis mistimed a pull, sending the ball straight to India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav at extra cover.

The third umpire reviewed the delivery for a potential front-foot no-ball and confirmed it as legal, giving the wicket to Bumrah. This crucial dismissal, removing the last recognized batter, effectively sealed the game for India. You can watch the video here:

Batting first, the Men in Blue posted a total of 175/6 in 20 overs, thanks to a late blitz by Hardik Pandya, who remained unbeaten on 59 off 28 balls, including four sixes and six fours.

Contributions also came from Tilak Varma (26 off 32), Axar Patel (23 off 21), and Abhishek Sharma (17 off 12). For South Africa, Lungi Ngidi was the standout bowler, claiming three wickets. In reply, the Proteas were bundled out for just 74 in 12.3 overs.

Apart from Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Axar Patel picked up two wickets each, while Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube chipped in with one wicket apiece.
