Dhruv Jurel has taken sharp catches to remove half-centurion Ollie Robinson and James Anderson in the Ranchi Test, and gone on to play a crucial role with the bat to minimize India’s deficit. While Kuldeep Yadav negated Shoaib Bashir for the majority, Jurel was handling the pacers adroitly. When Kuldeep unfortunately played on, Jurel switched gears with Akash Deep providing able support as India eventually fell 46 short of England’s first-innings total.

The keeper-bat missed his fifty by four runs on debut and he’s lost his wicket in the nervous nineties in his second Test match, but it has been a show of brilliant temperament from the youngster. He was up against a tough leader who set smart fields with his bowlers operating accordingly. However, Jurel showed brilliant game-awareness and application to play an inspiring innings. Shoaib Bashir had to toil hard today but he’s earned himself a fifer. The off-spinner turned the game in England’s favour in a session yesterday and ensured India played under-par.
