The Eden Gardens in Kolkata will host its first game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, with three-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) competing against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in match 6 on April 2.
KKR lost to the Mumbai Indians in their opening fixture of the 19th season, and they would want to return to winning ways. The bowlers were ordinary in the previous outing and failed to stop the rival batters at the Wankhede Stadium.
On the other hand, SRH also started with a defeat in the new season, with Royal Challengers Bengaluru thumping them. They will rely on their batting unit as their bowling line-up is weak, and it will be interesting to see how the team management handles the combination in the second game.

The pitch at the Eden Gardens is good for the batters. It has changed over the years, and now there is hardly any help for the bowlers. A batting-friendly track is expected for the Thursday contests, which will allow the willow holders to go for fours and sixes.

Sunrisers Hyderabad's stand-in captain Ishan is in sensational form and scored a magnificent fifty in the first match against RCB. Earlier, he amassed over 300 runs in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. If he gets going against KKR, Hyderabad fancy their chances. His partnership with the top-order batters would decide the outcome of the game.
Varun Chakravarthy has been one of the most successful KKR bowlers in the last few seasons. He likes bowling at the Eden Gardens, and his variations will certainly test SRH batters in the evening game.
