India will face South Africa in their first match of the Super 8 stage on February 22 (Sunday). However, the Men in Blue are worried about Abhishek Sharma’s form in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. He has registered three consecutive ducks, with the USA, Pakistan and the Netherlands bowlers dominating him.

Before the game against the Men in Green, former player Mohammad Amir had called him a slogger. After his third duck in the previous game, Amir once again slammed him.

He compared Abhishek to Saim Ayub, saying teams have realised that he is not strong on the off-side. The bowlers are bowling third or fourth stump line to stop him. He will have to work on his off-side game.

“Saim had the same issue when he played in the PSL a few seasons back. He was new and nobody knew his weakness. Now, if a bowler bowls the third of the fourth stump line, Abhishek struggles. In the last two matches, he was dismissed while trying to play on the off side. Abhishek can’t progress if his off-side game is not improved. Strong bowlers will test you,” Amir said.

Mohammad Amir mentioned that Abhishek Sharma can’t hit every ball in international cricket. “He want every ball in the slot but it is not possible in international cricket. You can’t slog every ball. Salman Agha and Aryan Dutt dismissed him in similar way. International cricket will expose him,” he added.
