The Multan Sultans are preparing strongly for the upcoming Pakistan Super League 2026 season. The team has already made some important changes and added new players to the squad.
Australian star Steve Smith has become one of this season's biggest signings because he will play in the tournament for the first time. Smith had a very good season in the Big Bash League 2025–26 and now he wants to maintain his performance in Pakistan.
The franchise also added Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan to their team to improve their batting. The management wants to develop a strong team for the upcoming season through their new players who will join the team.
The new owner of the team has delivered his first message to all players before the tournament begins.
According to reports from Pakistan’s Relukattay, Multan Sultans owner Gohar Shah has warned the entire squad ahead of PSL 2026.
He said every player must meet the team’s standards especially when it comes to fitness and physical strength. Shah explained that no player would receive any special advantages because of their status or previous achievements.
His message applies to every member of the squad including big names like Steve Smith and Sahibzada Farhan.
Gohar Shah said:
“I will tell all the players, if you fall below the benchmark, even if you’ve a two-year contract, I will send you home, even if I've to pay an extra 60 lakhs. I will absolutely not compromise on my players’ physical strength. Anyone who does not meet this standard will not play in my team, no matter how high their skill level is.”
The strong statement shows that the owner wants strict discipline and high standards within the team before the start of the tournament.
