After three years of successfully hosting the Men's T20 Mumbai League, the Mumbai Cricket Association will be hosting the female version of the franchise league. On March 14, the MCA has confirmed the proceeding with a formal ceremony.
Unlike the Men's League, the Women's League will start with three teams. Companies like PRS Infraprojects LLP, Roadway Solution India Infra Ltd, and World Star Sporting Private Limited will be operating the three women's franchises.
MCA has confirmed that the tournament will be hosted simultaneously with the Men's League. This means it will start right after the 2026 Indian Premier League concludes. However, the schedule has not been released. The board is waiting for the BCCI to release the full schedule.
So far, BCCI has released the schedule till 12th April, assembling the first 20 matches. The next phase will be released based on the dates of the upcoming elections in states like West Bengal, Assam, and Tamil Nadu. Notably, last year, in the Men's League, Siddesh Lad's Mumbai South Central defeated Shreyas Iyer's SoBo Mumbai Falcons in the final match.

On Saturday, at the official ceremony, MCA invited the former Indian cricket player and Mumbai prodigy, Rohit Sharma, to unveil the trophies for both the Men's and Women's Leagues. In the ceremony, he expressed his satisfaction in the way Mumbai is gradually growing beyond IPL and how players from these leagues played in the IPL and also in the national team.
He said,
"I'm very happy with how Mumbai cricket is shaping up - not just in the IPL team, but also with what the T20 Mumbai League has done for many young cricketers. We saw so many cricketers who played in the T20 Mumbai now go on to play for IPL teams and the national team as well. It is a big platform. I'm happy that we are doing this again after a very successful last season."
He added,
"I was involved last season. I saw it was a very tough task. I have to give credit to each and every member of the MCA for pulling it through. This year, there are three women's teams as well, so it's getting bigger."
Notably, last year, Mumbai saw a good number of star players participating in the league. Apart from Shreyas, other national team players like Suryakumar Yadav, Ajinkya Rahane, Shivam Dube, and Shardul Thakur, and IPL-famous players like Musheer Khan and Angrish Raghuvangshi have also taken part in the league.
Recently, in the India Women vs. Australia Women one-off pink ball Test at the WACA ground, 25-year-old Sayali Satghare made her debut. Last year, she even won the WPL trophy representing the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. On the T20 Mumbai League Women's version inauguration, she said,
"Mumbai has always been a city that lives and breathes cricket, and it means a lot to see a dedicated platform now being created for women as well. I would like to thank the Mumbai Cricket Association for taking this important step and investing in the future of women's cricket. The T20 Mumbai Women's League will give many young girls the opportunity to dream bigger, compete at a high level and believe that they too can represent Mumbai and India one day."
