There have been a number of unanswered questions among fans following Mitchell Starc's late arrival for the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2026. However, his wife Alyssa Healy has since come to his rescue and settled the row concerning the left-arm fast bowler's availability.

The left-arm speedster, who recently called time on his T20I career, is yet to join the Delhi Capitals side. Mitchell Starc was in action as part of the Australian lineup for their five Ashes Tests against England, which was followed by the Big Bash League. Considering the workload and injury concerns, it is believed that the left-arm fast bowler would miss out on the initial IPL 2026 fixtures, similar to Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood.

While Cummins and Hazlewood have already joined Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru respectively, Delhi Capitals are yet to welcome the star pacer in their camp.

Alyssa Healy Responds to Fan Criticism

Delhi Capitals fans were far from pleased with Mitchell Starc's delayed arrival at the franchise, as one fan asked in the comment section of his Instagram post why he would miss the initial matches even though other Australian cricketers had already reached their teams:

The fans said:

"This is so unfair to us @delhicapitals fan that Hazelwood and Cummins despite being injured will be available for their teams but you wont be."

Alyssa Healy was quick to respond and cleared the air by stating that Mitchell Starc is currently struggling with an injury:

Healy's responded saying:

"@anmol_is_here probably cause he’s injured mateif he can’t bowl how’s he supposed to play?!"

Her statement makes it evident that the delay is not because of lack of dedication but because of fitness issues.

Delhi Capitals Await NOC Clearance

Hemang Badani, head coach of Delhi Capitals, has given an update regarding the situation with their star pacer and confirmed that they are yet to receive a No Objection Certificate from Cricket Australia:

Badani said:

“We are waiting to get the NOC from Cricket Australia. Once we get that, we will know when he will join us. We are in constant touch with CA. He has been bowling, he had bowled a few days back. Unless Cricket Australia signs off on him that he is fit to play, there is little a franchise can do."

Delhi Capitals will be commencing their IPL 2026 campaign on April 1 against Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. The franchise will be hopeful to gain clarity on the availability of the pace spearhead soon.
