The Pakistan Men's Cricket team handed over the captaincy to their star fast bowler, Shaheen Shah Afridi, in November last year. And today, he is leading his team against Australia in the second ODI in Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium.

Pakistan won the toss and chose to bowl first. Afridi opened the bowling for Pakistan and dismissed Alex Carey for a golden duck with the very first ball of the match. He bowled a fullish, wide delivery pitched outside the off stump that stopped slightly on the surface and shaped away.

Carey committed to an expansive shot, attempting to slash or cut the ball toward the square region. The ball caught a thick inside edge off Carey's bat and crashed directly back onto the stumps, cleanly bowling him.

With this, he joined Pakistan's elite list of captains who took wickets on the first ball of an ODI match. The list only includes Wasim Akram, who dismissed Andy Flower in 1993, and Waqar Younis dismissing Marcus Trescothick in 2001.

Shaheen Joins Imran's Elite Club

Former Pakistan captain Imran Khan scripted history in 1985 by becoming the first Pakistani to claim a wicket with the opening ball of an ODI, dismissing Ravi Shastri and finishing with 6/14. Decades later, Shaheen Afridi entered company, becoming the third Pakistani bowler to record first-ball ODI wickets multiple times.
