Pakistan defeated Australia by 22 runs in the first T20I of the three-match series at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Australia stumbled in the chase of 169 runs and managed 146/8 in 20 overs.
Cameron Green (36 off 31), Xavier Bartlett (34* off 25) and Travis Head (23 off 13) got starts for the Aussies, but none of them went on to play a big innings. Saim Ayub and Abrar Ahmed picked up two wickets each.
Earlier, Pakistan also had a tough day in the batting department. Captain Salman Ali Agha (44 off 22), Saim (39 off 27) and Babar Azam (24 off 20) played key roles in taking the score to 168/8. Adam Zampa dismissed four batters while Bartlett and Mahli Beardman claimed two wickets each.

Saim Ayub was named the Player of the Match for scoring 39 runs and taking two wickets.
Pakistan have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
