Usama Mir who previously went unnoticed by cricket fans led Sialkot Region to an overwhelming victory against Lahore Region Blues during their match in the 2026 National T20 Cup. The leg-spinner achieved six wickets as he restricted batsmen to eight runs during his three point two overs at Imran Khan Cricket Stadium on Thursday March 12.

The 30-year-old established himself as a match winner by breaking a record which Sohail Tanvir used to hold for Rajasthan Royals. The record first established during the Indian Premier League inaugural season in May 2008 remains unbroken because BCCI prohibited Pakistani players from participating in the tournament.

Usama Mir who served as Sialkot Region captain needed only six wickets to defeat Lahore Region Blues during their match on March 12. His figures of 6-8 in 3.2 overs earned him the Player of the Match award as Sialkot Region crushed Lahore Region Blues by 110 runs.

The Pakistani bowler Mir set a new record for T20 bowling performance when he achieved his outstanding record during the match. Sohail Tanvir's record of 6-14 against Chennai Super Kings in May 2008 during his first IPL season with Rajasthan Royals was broken by his 6-8 performance. Here is a look at five of the best bowling figures produced by Pakistan bowlers in T20 cricket.

Sialkot Region batted first and posted 210-4 in 20 overs despite losing both openers early. Abdullah Shafique scored a brisk 57 from 31 balls at number three with six fours and three huge sixes in Peshawar. Ahsan Hafeez smashed 47* from only 17 balls at the death while Hasan Nawaz and Mohsin Riaz combined for 71 middle-order runs.

During the match, Usama Mir took six out of ten Lahore Region Blues wickets while giving up only eight runs. The Blues lost their last seven wickets for only 100 runs after opener Umar Siddiq and wicketkeeper Hamza Zahoor scored 30 runs each, which allowed Sialkot to win by 110 runs. The victory brought Sialkot Region their first points on the Group B table of the 2026 National T20 Cup after they lost their initial match.

Usama Mir has demonstrated his ability to take wickets yet he remains unable to earn consistent selection for the Pakistan national team. The leg-spinner has participated in 12 One Day Internationals and five Twenty20 International matches for the Pakistan national cricket team, achieving a total of 20 wickets in both formats. Mir last played for Pakistan in April 2024 during a home T20I series against New Zealand national cricket team.
