The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 continues to gather momentum as Peshawar Zalmi (PSZ) take on Rawalpindi Pindiz (RWP) in Match No. 3 at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on Saturday, March 28.
Both sides head into this clash with different narratives. Peshawar Zalmi, led by Babar Azam, will be eager to bounce back after an underwhelming campaign last season, where they narrowly missed out on the playoffs. With a more balanced squad this time around, Zalmi will look to make an early statement in the tournament.
On the other hand, all eyes will be on Rawalpindi Pindiz, a newly introduced franchise in the expanded eight-team PSL, captained by Mohammad Rizwan.
The contest also sets up an intriguing battle between two of Pakistan’s most consistent batters in recent years, Babar and Rizwan, adding further edge to the encounter.

The iconic Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, will host the third match of the PSL 2026 between Peshawar Zalmi and Rawalpindi Pindiz on Saturday, March 28. This will be an afternoon game, so there won't be a dew factor involved for either of the teams. Generally, the pitch at the venue is considered to be one of the most batting-friendly wickets in Pakistan, and that's what we saw in the opening match of the season as well. Lahore Qalandars scored 199 runs in their 20 overs, which indicates that the pitch will remain batting friendly, so we can expect a high-scoring encounter.
This will be the first time both teams will face off in the PSL, as Pindiz will be making their debut in the league with this match.
Babar Azam (c), James Vince, Kusal Mendis (wk), Iftikhar Ahmed, Abdul Samad, Michael Bracewell, Aaron Hardie, Aamer Jamal, Sufiyan Muqeem, Nahid Rana, Khuram Shahzad.
Mohammad Rizwan (c & wk), Shahzaib Khan, Kamran Ghulam, Daryl Mitchell, Laurie Evans, Sam Billings, Amad Butt, Mohammad Amir, Naseem Shah, Rishad Hossain, Zaman Khan
All eyes will be on how Pakistan's premier batter Babar Azam bats in this contest. Captaining the side, there is a huge expectation on Babar to deliver with the bat. He had a poor T20 World Cup 2026 with the bat for Pakistan and was subsequently dropped from the playing XI. His strike rate has been a topic of discussion for a long time now, so it will be interesting to see how he bats in this edition of the PSL.
The right-arm pacer from Pakistan will be the bowler to watch out for in this contest. With his high pace, he can trouble any batter on any surface. In his short PSL career so far, Naseem Shah has taken 50 wickets with an economy rate of 8.17. If he clicks, Pindiz will be in a great position.
