Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) grabbed the spotlight recently, both on the field and in the business world. The franchise became the most valuable in IPL history after a consortium led by the Aditya Birla Group (ABG) purchased it from United Spirits Limited for an eye-watering USD 1.78 billion (approximately Rs16,706 crore).

RCB also spectacularly began their IPL 2026 campaign, chasing down a massive 202-run target set by Sunrisers Hyderabad in just 15.4 overs, the fastest anyone has ever chased a 200-plus total in IPL history.

The match was attended by Ananya Birla and Aryaman Birla, prominent members of the Aditya Birla Group, who were visibly thrilled, and applauded the team’s record-breaking effort.

Virat Kohli starred with an unbeaten 69 off 38 balls, while Devdutt Padikkal contributed a quick 61 to help RCB secure a six-wicket victory. Sunrisers Hyderabad, batting first, posted 201 for nine, largely thanks to stand-in captain Ishan Kishans 80 off 38 balls after the team had slumped to 29 for three. Ankit Verma also added a fiery 43 runs off just 18 deliveries.

During the chase, RCB’s innings was powered by Padikkal, Kohli, and Rajat Patidar , who scored 31 off 12 balls. On the bowling side, debutant Jacob Duffy took 3 wickets for 22 runs in his four overs, winning the Player of the Match award.
