Tilak Varma’s 57 and Naman Dhir’s 47 repaired the innings briefly, but RCB kept striking regularly to restrict MI to 166/7. Bhuvneshwar finished with 4/23, while Josh Hazlewood, Rasikh Salam and Romario Shepherd claimed one wicket each.

In reply, Mumbai Indians had RCB at 39/3, with Virat Kohli dismissed for a duck and Corbin Bosch returning figures of 4/26.
