Former India batter Sabbhineni Meghana announced her retirement from all formats of cricket on Friday, at the age of 30. The Andhra Pradesh top-order batter last represented India in October 2022 and finished with 372 runs across three ODIs and 17 T20Is.

Meghana's final international appearance came in October 2022, against Thailand at the Women's Asia Cup. She will stay in the sport. She said she intends to dedicate her life to giving back to the game and to mentoring the next generation of players.

Her path to the India side was a long one. She debuted for India in T20Is in 2016 and ODIs six years later, and all three of her ODI appearances came in one series, India's 2022 tour of New Zealand.

Her T20I debut came against West Indies in Vijayawada in November 2016, where she made 17 off 16 balls in a 31-run defeat. Her ODI debut followed against New Zealand in Queenstown in February 2022, where she scored four off 14 balls. She made 49 off 50 balls and 61 off 41 balls in the next two matches of that series.

Those three games remained her only ODI appearances. She closed her 50-over career with 114 runs. In T20Is, she scored 258 runs at a strike rate of 102.78, with one half-century. Her highest international score of 69 came against Malaysia in 2022, and she scored a fifty in each format.

Her franchise career ran across three Women's Premier League seasons. Meghana made 15 appearances across three seasons for Gujarat Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, scoring 302 runs at an average of 23.23. She began with Gujarat Giants before joining RCB, where she spent two years and was part of the franchise's 2024 title-winning squad. Her last appearance in the league came in the 2025 season.

"The field has been my second home," Meghana wrote in her Instagram post. "My bond with cricket will never break." She announced the decision in a post on Instagram, thanking the game for what it had given her. She said the field had taught her resilience and humility, and that the memories and friendships from it would stay with her for a lifetime.
