Sai Sudharsan was involved in one of the most unusual moments of IPL 2026 as the Gujarat Titans opener was dismissed hit-wicket for the second consecutive match during Qualifier 2 against Rajasthan Royals. After being dismissed in the same manner against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Qualifier 1, Sudharsan once again saw a promising innings come to an unfortunate end.
The left-hander, who had already endured a rare hit-wicket dismissal earlier in the playoffs, repeated the misfortune when his bat struck the stumps while attempting a shot behind square on the off side. The remarkable similarity between the two dismissals quickly caught the attention of fans, with many amazed to witness the same batter fall hit-wicket in back-to-back knockout games.

The dismissal felt even more remarkable because Sudharsan was in the midst of another superb knock and appeared well on course to steer Gujarat Titans to victory. Chasing 215, he and Shubman Gill gave GT a dream start, putting together a stunning 167-run opening partnership off just 77 deliveries and taking complete control of the contest.
At one point, Gujarat seemed headed for a comfortable 10-wicket triumph. However, the unusual manner of Sudharsan’s dismissal overshadowed what was otherwise a brilliant innings from the left-hander. The GT opener once again showcased why he has been among the standout performers of IPL 2026.
He brought up a half-century in just 26 balls and also crossed the 700-run milestone for the season, further strengthening his position among the tournament’s top run-scorers.
What a player! What a knock!

Along with Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan dominated the Rajasthan Royals bowlers and made the difficult chase look much easier. Their strong partnership put Gujarat Titans in a commanding position, and the team’s momentum continued even after Sudharsan was dismissed.
Gill carried on the attack and scored a brilliant century in just 47 balls, keeping GT firmly on track for victory. However, despite the excellent batting performance, Sudharsan’s unusual dismissal remained the biggest talking point among fans on social media.
