The 49th match of IPL 2026 will feature Punjab Kings (PBKS) competing against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Before the game, many fans are still discussing PBKS star Shashank Singh. The question of whether he will participate in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad tomorrow at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium remains one of the biggest talking points before the clash.

Shashank Singh has already missed two matches. The experienced Punjab Kings batter is currently recovering from a hamstring injury which he sustained during the April 25 match against Delhi Capitals at Arun Jaitley Stadium.

He has missed multiple games and his status for the SRH match remains uncertain. Brad Haddin, the assistant coach of Punjab Kings, provided a crucial fitness update about Shashank before the SRH versus PBKS match.

Haddin announced that all players in the team have achieved full recovery to compete against Sunrisers Hyderabad for their upcoming away match. The team has not yet announced whether Shashank Singh will be able to participate in the upcoming match.

The assistant coach of PBKS shared update: “It looks like Shashank will run around and do everything today. That's our only concern from a fitness point of view, we've got all our squad available now. And Shashank will have his last hit out today, and hopefully that goes exactly how we think it will go.”

The batter shared details about his recovery progress during another conversation. He stated that his injury would resolve itself within a short time frame. There is currently no specific information available about his return to the Punjab Kings starting lineup.

Many fans suspect Shashank Singh has more hidden reasons for his current absence. He lost multiple important catches during the Delhi Capitals match and he committed major errors during his fielding duties. The match reached its critical point when he failed to catch an easy chance from KL Rahul who eventually scored a hundred runs.

Shashank Singh exited the field during PBKS first inning because of his earlier errors. He pointed to his hamstring area while he sat in the dugout next to head coach Ricky Ponting.

PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer explained Singh's absence from the playing XI during the toss of the Punjab Kings match against Rajasthan Royals as an obligatory substitution.

Iyer updated at the toss of the match: “We would have loved to bowl first as well. The wicket was covered for the last few days because of the weather. All of us are proactive, irrespective of whether we are bowling first or second. We have one forced change, Suryansh comes in place of Shashank. Also, Lockie comes in place of Xavier.”
