Afghanistan’s star cricketer Rashid Khan has officially confirmed his second marriage, putting an end to ongoing rumours sparked by viral photos and videos. The 26-year-old leg-spinner was recently seen alongside a woman in traditional Afghan attire, leading to widespread speculation about his marital status. Rashid clarified through an Instagram post that the woman seen with him is indeed his wife, confirming that his second marriage took place on August 2, 2025.

He stated that he had his nikkah ceremony and married “a woman who embodies the love, peace, and partnership” he always hoped for. The news follows his first marriage in October 2024 in Kabul, which was attended by several high-profile Afghan cricketers. Interestingly, that ceremony also saw three of his brothers—Amir Khalil, Zakiullah, and Raza Khan—tie the knot on the same evening.

Clarification Through Instagram Statement

Rashid Khan addressed the circulating rumours by sharing a heartfelt message on Instagram. He explained that the viral video, which led to assumptions about his relationship, was filmed during the launch of the Rashid Khan Charity Foundation in the Netherlands. The event aimed to promote education, healthcare, and clean water initiatives for Afghan communities.

“On August 2nd, 2025, I began a new and meaningful chapter of my life. I had my nikkah done and married a woman who embodies the love, peace, and partnership I always hoped for,” Rashid wrote. He expressed disappointment at how a simple public appearance had led to unnecessary assumptions but maintained that he and his wife had nothing to hide. “The truth is straightforward—she is my wife and we stand together with nothing to hide. To everyone who has shown kindness, support and understanding, thank you,” he added.

Professional Focus And Continued Leadership

Beyond his personal life, Rashid Khan continues to make his mark in international cricket. The Afghan captain remains one of the most dominant figures in T20 cricket, holding the record for the most wickets in T20 Internationals—182 dismissals in 108 matches at an average of 13.69, including two five-wicket hauls.

Known for his consistency and leadership, he recently led Afghanistan during the Asia Cup. Despite the team’s failure to reach the semi-finals, Rashid’s individual performances and leadership were widely appreciated. With his second marriage now confirmed, Rashid appears focused on balancing his growing personal commitments with his role as Afghanistan’s most influential cricketer, both on and off the field.
