England fast-bowling legend Stuart Broad has sparked discussion after claiming that Australia are set to contest the upcoming Ashes with their weakest side since 2010. His remark came in response to former opener David Warner’s bold prediction that the hosts would win the series 4-0.

The 2010–11 Ashes remains England’s last successful tour of Australia, where the visiting side claimed a 3-1 series win to retain the urn. In stark contrast, their next three trips down under brought heavy defeats 5-0, 4-0, and 4-0, exposing their struggles in Australian conditions.

“It’s always tough to win in Australia for England or any team,” Broad admitted on the For the Love of Cricket podcast.

“Australia are clear favourites for the series. They’re the side carrying the most pressure because everyone expects them to win especially given how good they are on home soil,” he added.

“But there are still doubts surrounding their squad and concerns about the fitness of their captain, Pat Cummins,” Broad mentioned.

“This is probably the weakest Australian side since 2010, when England last won there, and the strongest England team since that time.”

Stuart Broad observed that Australia, once known for their predictable and balanced lineup, now lack the same level of stability across their batting and bowling units.

“Australia were consistent for years and everyone knew about their batting slots. This situation reminds me of 2010–11, when England won in Australia. I believe England can reach that level, and there’s a chance Australia might not.”

“I don’t think anyone can dispute that this is Australia’s weakest side since 2010,” he concluded.
