Amit Mishra slammed former Pakistan batter Mohammad Yousuf for calling Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav a pig after he refused to shake hands with Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha. The two countries played against each other on September 14 in the Asia Cup 2025, but SKY and the Indian players didn’t shake hands with their rivals.
In reply, Pakistan didn’t send their skipper for the post-match presentation. Mishra backed India’s decision. “I am with the Indian players and the team management for maintaining a professional stance without showing any friendship gestures. By agreeing to play the game, they have shown respect for the game,” he told ANI.
During the presentation ceremony, Suryakumar dedicated the win to the Indian Armed Forces. “We stand by the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. We also dedicate our win to the Indian Armed Forces. Hopefully, they will continue to inspire us, and we will give them more reasons to smile,” Suryakumar said.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) complained to match referee Andy Pycroft, accusing him of stopping Samlan Agha from shaking hands with Suryakuamr Yadav and also not allowing the exchange of team sheets.
Former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Yousuf crossed all limits and used an offensive remark for Suryakumar Yadav.
Mishra didn’t like the language used by Yousuf. He mentioned that former Pakistan players have a habit of using such comments, and they should be avoided and ignored.
“Despite being a Test cricketer, he has made such remarks. They speak nonsense. They have been doing it for a long time. They complained about the match referee, but it was India’s decision not to shake hands. We should ignore such people,” Mishra added.
“I am with the Indian team, and the entire nation is with the team. Pakistan players show their class. We haven’t seen Indian players making derogatory remarks. They are not cricketers for me. This shows the difference between the cricketers from two countries,” he concluded.
Yousuf took to social media to clear his stance on the controversy. “I didn’t mean any disrespect to any sportsman who plays for his country with passion and grace, but why were the Indian media and people praising Irfan Pathan when he said that Shahid Khan Afridi was barking like a dog? Shouldn’t that have been rejected by everyone who talks about dignity and respect?” Yousuf wrote on X.
