Virat Kohli recently said no to a commercial contract with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The legendary batter, who has been playing for the franchise since 2008, lifted his maiden IPL trophy this year. RCB are looking for a new owner despite their success in IPL 2025.
Former India opener Krishnamachari Srikkanth has reacted to the ongoing stories, saying that Virat will continue to compete in the league. “RCB won the title this year, and it is just speculation. I don’t think he will retire. The change of ownership is a business decision. Virat will continue with RCB,” Srikkanth said.
He is backing Kohli to continue playing in the IPL for three more years. “He was among the runs in IPL this year. If he wants to retire, it would be his personal decision. Virat can play for another three years. He is the King of Kings and will score runs,” he added.
Virat will return to action with a three-match series against Australia starting on October 19. The 36-year-old will play under the leadership of new captain Shubman Gill.
