On May 13, the Indian stalwart Virat Kohli became the first Indian to score 14000 runs in the T20 format. This happened in the match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders, where a century from Kohli helped RCB win by 6 wickets in Raipur.
Notably, Kohli became the sixth player in history who breached 14000 runs in the T20 format. He also became the fastest player in the world to achieve those in terms of the number of innings played.
Kohli scored his 14000th run in his 409th T20 game, which breaks the previous record of Chris Gayle, who achieved this record in 423 matches. 4

Virat Kohli achieved this historic record while batting in his 78th run of the match off the first ball of the 16th over during RCB's 193-run chase. He went on to score a brilliant 105 runs off 60 balls, marking his record-extending 9th career IPL century.

His partnership with Cameron Green steadied the middle overs before Rinku Singh exploded at the death with an unbeaten 49.
In reply, Virat Kohli controlled the chase like a masterclass in tempo batting. He paced the innings perfectly, accelerated after the Powerplay, and brought up a commanding century under pressure. Support from Devdutt Padikkal ensured the required rate never spiralled, turning the chase into a display of calculated dominance.
