Rohit Sharma did not declare his innings right after Yashasvi Jaiswal‘s double hundred. But the players on the ground thought he did, and so they were coming toward the dressing room, including the Indian batters Jaiswal and Sarfaraz Khan. This happened during the drinks break on Day 4 (February 14) at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot.

So as players were walking back to the dugout, Sharma looked visibly annoyed. He waved his arms, asking Jaiswal and Sarfaraz to go back and continue batting.

Sharma is a fun character on the field, be it his conversation with teammates, his press conference interviews, or those moments when he ends up forgetting certain things. This incident about declaring innings was just an example of that.

In the first innings, Sharma scored 131 runs from 196 balls. He could score 19 runs from 28 balls in the second innings.

Rohit Sharma becomes the first captain to declare against Bazball

After Yashasvi Jaiswal scored his 214* and Sarfaraz Khan made 68*, Rohit Sharma declared the innings at 430/4. This made Sharma the first captain to declare against England in their Bazball era.

The video of Sharma declaring his innings has gone viral because when he was asking the batters to come back, fans were asking him to let Sarfaraz and Jaiswal continue with their fireworks.

England lost the second match by a huge 434 runs. India are now 2-1 in the series. Ben Stokes and Co. won the first match and lost the next two.
