Josh Brown (140 off 57 balls) pulverized the joint second-fastest century in BBL history as Brisbane Heat defeated Adelaide Strikers by 54 runs on Monday, January 22. The result meant a Qualifier rematch in the final at the SCG where Sydney Sixers and Brisbane Heat will square off again for the title. Brown’s innings was a masterclass in brute ball-striking on a Carrara Oval pitch that played fairly better than it did in the Qualifier match.

The spin twins in Cameron Boyce and Lloyd Pope had brought their team back during the middle overs on numerous occasions this season but against Brown, they were devoid of any answers. There were some imperious lofted inside-out shots, lofts down the ground, slog-sweeps among other lusty blows which enthralled the crowd to no end.

Brief scores: Brisbane Heat 214/6 in 20 (Josh Brown 140; David Payne 2-17, Lloyd Pope 2-39) beat Adelaide Strikers 160 in 19.5 overs (Harry Nielsen 50, Thomas Kelly 41; Nathan McSweeney 3-3, Spencer Johnson 3-20) by 54 runs
